Job PurposeThe Senior Director of Brand Marketing leads all institutional marketing strategy and planning that build awareness to Towson University's brand with target audiences, communicating TU's value proposition and brand positioning in a manner that resonates with prospective students, opinion leaders, influences, alumni, donors, and internal audiences, and begin a two-way conversation with new stakeholders. As a member of the University Marketing and Communications leadership team, the Senior Director partners closely with senior leaders and teams from Creative Services, Digital Strategy, Enrollment Marketing, and Media and Communications to build and execute campaigns and long term brand strategy. The Senior Director serves as the lead player in understanding TU's key audiences and driving the when, where and how we communicate with key stakeholders, across social media, owned, earned media coverage, influencer marketing and paid media. The Senior Director builds compelling communications plans that deliver on strategies and key performance indicators (KPI’s), and is eager to both manage strategically and work tactically.

Oversees teams for Social Media, and PR & Events, as well working with external partners for stakeholder insights and media planning. Builds cross-channel marketing plans that deliver on both strategic and analytical goals. Leads TU's cross-functional efforts around key brand developments and launches. Builds compelling and relevant omni-channel audience experiences with partnership from Media and Communications, Marketing, Digital Strategy, Enrollment Marketing and Creative Services teams within the division. Manages a staff of 3 full-time marketing coordinators, assistants, freelancers, and external teams who improve and optimize brand marketing work. Supervises/mentors student employees as it relates to media relations functions.
Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field; eight years of professional experience with at least five years of demonstrated brand marketing experience, including at least 3 years of supervisory experience; must possess an ability to write engagingly and persuasively; ability to work productively with partner ad agency, sales representatives as well as with senior university administration, faculty, staff and students; ability to coordinate and prioritize complex projects; must be a strong and innovative problem solver, creative strategist and a great tactical leader who has a humble, self-motivated working style and collaborative nature; discretion, excellent judgement and trustworthiness are crucial; ability to effectively interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse individuals; experience with social media, PR and influencer marketing best practices, technologies and recent innovations; experience with quantitative and qualitative stakeholder insights as well as brand strategy development; proven track record of driving results in a way that supports a brand strategy and in a brand-driven work, and building a team culture that values using analytics to improve work as well as creative; ability to effectively interact with culturally and ethnically diverse individuals; and compassionate, authentic and inspirational manager who can identify, nurture and leverage strengths and talents within the team.
Master's degree and knowledge of marketing and advertising industry.
