Reporting the Assistant VP of Campus Rec and Student Union Services, the Senior Coordinator is responsible for the strategic development, planning, and implementation of communication and marketing to promote awareness and participation in Campus Rec (CREC). This position also provides second-level support to Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU), Conference and Event Services (CESO), and the Viking Pavilion in coordination with other communication staff. The Senior Coordinator will provide strategic leadership to the creation, design, and production of all publications, promotional materials, newsletters, web-site, social media, and other presentations for Campus Rec. The Senior Coordinator will coordinate the work of the student staff responsible for supporting the communication efforts of the Campus Rec and Student Union Services suite of services. The Senior Coordinator will ensure representation for the departments at various sponsored activities among current and prospective Portland State students and community members, including Orientation, New Student Week, Student Recruitment Activities, Student Rec Center tours, etc.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field, plus three years related experience or Master's plus one year experience.
Evidence of proficiency in coordinating multiple simultaneous projects
Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design, web management, and/or social networking.
Demonstrated mastery in writing press releases, newsletters and web-content
Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to mentor, teach, train, and evaluate young para-professional students in marketing
Knowledge of design software and applications should include: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
Demonstrated ability to manage quality and complex video production processes.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of individuals at all levels within the organization. In particular, must be able to mentor and oversee students in visual communication skills and their role in the maintenance of a brand’s graphic identity.
Ability to work varied hours including occasional evenings and weekends
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field, plus five years related experience or Master's plus two years experience.
Advanced knowledge of Drupal or other content management systems
Competence in use of design software and applications including: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Practical experience using project tracking tools such as Asana, Slack, etc
Demonstrated mastery to mentor, teach, train, and evaluate young para-professional students in marketing
Active involvement with a professional association like PRSA, AMA, or NIRSA.
