Develops, plans and provides strategic leadership to optimize performance of the University of Houston System (UHS) licensing program. Manages, plans, and implements the operational, promotional, and financial activities of University of Houston's and the University of Houston System's licensing program while maintaining institutional brand integrity. Implements and manages brand programs.
Develops, plans and provides strategic leadership to optimize performance of licensing program.
Develops strategies for the cultivation of relations with licensees and retailers for official licensing and market penetration (with a focus on Harris County during the initial phase and expansion to other regional markets thereafter).
Understands current market trends affecting consumer perceptions of collegiate licensed products by meeting with licensees to review their business and apparel lines and the local marketplace.
Analyzes loyalty reports and other data to assist in developing strategic brand management programs; prepares reports as requested; oversees the allocation of royalty income to UH System universities and other approved university units.
Assists with reviewing and approving company/licensee requests and the retail artwork approval component for Trademark Licensing.
Collaborates with Athletics in brand management and the review and approval of proposed logo or trademark changes.
Collaborates with University's Office of General Counsel, and with outside counsel as necessary, on federal trademark registration and other legal considerations.
Collaborates with third party contractors granted rights to represent UHS in promoting merchandise/trademarks, and licensing opportunities.
Oversees compliance checks either directly or in partnership with third parties under contract with UHS to ensure UHS trademarks are used appropriately.
Serves as a resource for trademark licensing and marketing topics.
Assists with managing the Department of Athletics merchandise retail operations and related partnership's (ie Fanatics); including but not limited to, on-line athletic events, on-campus retail store, etc.
Ensures UH is engaged in emerging trends in branding, including the ability to benchmark and set milestones, and successfully oversee the work of firms that may be tasked with branding research and implementation.

Bachelors and 5 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
Preferred: Five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in institutional or corporate trademark licensing operations or closely related field.
