The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for multiple, part-time, adjunct, non-tenure track faculty positions in the Department of Marketing at the Instructor/Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2018 and/or Spring 2019. The Department of Marketing is seeking a pool of candidates to fill potential positions. Being a qualified candidate does note ensure a teaching contract will be offered; course offerings, and therefore teaching appointments, will vary with demand and available funding.
DUTIES: The department’s current teaching needs are in the areas such as Principles of Marketing, Marketing Research and other elective courses in marketing at the undergraduate level. The individuals hired for this position will be responsible for teaching one or more undergraduate courses such as Principles of Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Communications, Marketing Research, and International Marketing etc., depending upon their expertise and availability. Candidates could teach in fall 2018 semester and/or spring 2019 semester within any of these areas depending upon the needs of the department. Responsibilities also include holding regularly scheduled office hours during the academic year. Fall semester appointments begin August 20, 2018 for classes which begin August 27, 2018. Spring semester appointments begin January 3, 2019 for classes which begin January 16, 2019.
REQUIRED/ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) [or an equivalent master’s degree with significant coursework in Marketing] from an accredited school or a major national or provincial university.
Must meet conditions for one of the four 2013 AACSB faculty qualifications [Scholarly Academic (SA), Practice Academic (PA), Scholarly Practitioner (SP), or Instructional Practitioner (IP)] as defined by LSBE (see https://lsbe.d.umn.edu/docs/Faculty%20Qualifications%20Definitions.pdf).
At least three years of practical experience in the field of Marketing.
Demonstrated evidence of effective communication skills needed for successful teaching.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
ABD or Ph.D. (or an equivalent terminal degree) from an AACSB accredited (or a regionally accredited) institution.
Experience as instructor or teaching assistant of at least one or more university-level undergraduate Marketing courses.
Demonstrated evidence of experience working in a diverse environment and/or teaching effectively to a diverse group of students.
