The director provides strategic direction and operational leadership to the Office of Communications and Marketing. The director is charged with leading and advancing the campus’s national, state, and regional visibility; creating an integrated and effective collegiate communications program utilizing a broad spectrum of media, including new media technologies; and collaborating with communicator colleagues across the University of Minnesota system.
The director will lead and implement an integrated and comprehensive campus marketing and communications strategy with student recruitment and fundraising as top priorities. Within this charge the director will manage the activities of diverse communications functions, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, policies, systems, and standards; determining priorities; and allocating financial and human resources, and managing workflow to ensure deadlines are met. The director additionally will serve as the primary brand ambassador of the UMN Morris brand, developing and implementing strategic marketing and advertising plans.
The director works closely and collaboratively with the other members of the leadership team, managing and supervising 4-5 direct reports while working on their own portfolio of projects.
The University of Minnesota Morris seeks a director for the Office of Communications and Marketing. This position is twelve month, 100% time, annually renewable, academic professional appointment reporting to the chancellor.
Required Qualifications BA/BS Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Art, or related field, or non-communication-related degree with additional two years of professional communications experience.
Six years of progressive responsibility in communications, including experience supervising professional communications staff. Non-communications-degreed individuals must have eight years of progressive responsibility in communications.
