General purpose:The Marketing and Outreach Specialist develops strategies forÂ the College Store to increase sales and customer satisfaction by expanding the customer base, including but not limited to marketing and customer outreach to a wide range of constituencies.Â Works closely with MICAâs Office of Strategic Communications to develop and manage branded designs for MICA merchandise to the collegeâs standards. Creates and maintains connections to the local artist community,Â and promotes the MICA Store on campus and beyond.
Summary of Essential Functions:Â
Create and maintain marketing strategies and techniques, within the collegeâs standards, that attract a wide audience within and beyond the campus community
Oversees all official MICA Store communications, using data from all facets of the MICA community and the surrounding artist community, to help make the MICA Store a destination location.
Uses knowledge of MICA Store community, and products, to create Store sales and promotional events
Maintains all MICA Store social media and creates all marketing and design content for the Storeâs e-commerce websiteÂ
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Â
Works with vendors and buyers on weekly/monthly promotions and sales
Works with sales floor staff to provide customer service as needed
Maintains the MICA Storeâs customer database
Creates strategic email campaigns based on the buying trends of several customer groups including MICA academic departments, city arts communities, MICA parents & families, MICA alumni and prospective students.
Manages all of the Storeâs social media including Facebook, Instagram, Google + and Twitter
Creates and maintains promotional content, MICA branding and design for the MICA Storeâs e-commerce site
Creates all signage and labeling in the Store to maintain MICA brand standardsÂ
Works closely with Strategic Communications to maintain a consistent brand identity
Coordinates the creation of new displays that correspond with promotions
Attends SVA meetings and other institutional eventsÂ
Provides promotional materials and guidelines for purchased ads and Store donations
Maintains a calendar of events in which the MICA Store participates and promotes these events
Works in the community to make the MICA Store a resource for all by visiting schools, studios and other arts organizations around the city
Helps buyers in the maintenance of the Storeâs inventory database to stay current on new, discontinued and overstocked products for which sales and promotions should be created
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Â
Knowledge of art supplies and other products of interest to artists and art enthusiasts
Ability to communicate with a diverse, 21st century artist community, both within the college and the surrounding community.Â Leadership in outstanding customer service skills
Ability to design both digital and printed promotional materials using Adobe Creative Suite and other design/social media applications
Bachelorâs degree in communications or equivalent marketing experience
Working knowledge of branding and the creation of branded materials
Previous customer service experienceÂ Â Â
A working knowledge of art supplies and their usesÂ
Experience with Point of Sale (POS) software such as Lightspeed Retail
Familiarity with Baltimore specific communities, culture and arts initiatives
