The SLS Marketing, Communications and Events Manager, in collaboration with University Marketing & Communications (Marcom), Enrollment Management and other university departments, is responsible for research, strategic planning, and implementation of marketing, communications and events. This position will serve as a communications project manager and will report to the Dean of the School of Leadership Studies. This position promotes the School of Leadership Studies by engaging with our departments within the School, and alumni, community partners and other stakeholder groups. This position manages content for the School's website(s), social media sites, and other promotional materials (newsletters, brochures, annual publication, event advertisement, etc.) including writing, editing, and directing compelling, optimized content for feature stories, blogs and more. The Coordinator engages, informs and inspires our many audiences by creating a strong storytelling platform with inclusive language and personalized experiences. This position also oversees arrangements for School events and functions.
Bachelor's degree in creative writing, journalism, communications, marketing, humanities, social sciences or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of work experience and strong writing portfolio may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
Three years' experience writing and creating marketing materials, with demonstrated ability to write succinct, active, and engaging copy appropriate for website, social media and print audiences. A strong writing portfolio may be considered in lieu of three years' work experience.
Experience publishing and managing content across multiple channels, including public websites, blogs, intranets, and social media; including combining text, graphics and interactive elements.
Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and grammar skills; including familiarity with AP style.
Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to write in various styles and tones for diverse audiences and platforms (such as marketing websites, blogs, social media, email marketing, newsletters and infographics).
Ability to adhere to Gonzaga's content standards and style guides.
Experience using web content management systems (CMS) to edit and publish content.
Experience coordinating, organizing, and marketing social events and meetings.
Ability to travel within the greater Spokane area for events or rental procurement and return
