The Director of Development is responsible for raising money and developing and strengthening branding and relationships with donors, employers, and the community as a whole to complement governmental and fee for service revenue streams . Strategic visioning and planning experience and skills are essential to the success of the position. She/he will ensure a positive brand experience to help build donor loyalty. The position requires travel within county boundaries for approximately 50 percent of his/her time participating in donor related events, and solicitation opportunities. This full-time position will report to the President & Chief Executive Officer.
Develop a strategic development plan and organize all aspects of the agency’s fundraising programs and strategies that include but are not limited to direct solicitation, events, parlor meetings, and planned giving.
Work with lay leadership to make “asks” to meet development goals
Lead a team of professionals involved in securing funds for agency programs through a strategic development plan.
Identify and meet with current and potential donors and sponsors and implement strategies to foster positive relationships with the goal of raising additional funds and in-kind donations.
Establish and maintain frequent communications with individual and business donors or sponsors
Research donation programs and opportunities available through local, state, and foundation support
Create reports post-event to analyze metrics and determine the marketing effectiveness for the fundraising program
Oversee department and inter-department meetings to plan milestones and requirements of all teams within the business regarding fundraising
Create collateral marketing materials related to fundraising by working closely with the community engagement department
Meet with senior and lay leaders a to gauge business needs and brainstorm ideas for fundraising programs for the coming year
Ability to raise $3-$5 million in new contributions over the next three years annually and secure donors for three naming opportunities.
Create/build a foundation of support, such as within the Orthodox, South Dade, and Hispanic communities.
5-7 years of business, foundation and/or non-profit fundraising experience
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Excel, and Raiser’s Edge
Exceptional presentation skills including verbal, interpersonal, and written skills
Proven track record in working effectively within in a diverse professional and community environment
Experience measuring data and outcomes of events to determine effectiveness
3-5 years of management and/or supervision experience is desirable
Positive and collaborative attitude when communicating, identifying solutions, developing strategies, managing groups and overseeing initiatives
Experience in strategic planning and implementation of development plans, with advanced donor potential research skills, tracking donor contributions and organizing data
Demonstrated experience raising funds and examples of positive outcomes
Proven track record of successful development and achievement of solicitation goals
Familiarity with legacy and endowment programs
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field is required. Master’s Degree is preferred. Additional language competencies are desired.
