The List Broker/Manager is responsible for the execution of campaign list strategy, researching and presenting test list recommendations, rate negotiation, list promotion, and managing the order production process. It is the job of the List Broker/Manager to make sure we find the right target audience to respond to our client’s direct mail appeal.
Serves as the primary daily client contact for multiple accounts, ensuring the timely delivery of services to clients, including mail plans, test recommendations and campaign analyses.
Makes recommendations on segmentation strategies for refinement or expansion of list selections.
Obtains pre-clearances for future mail dates; places list orders and ensures timely delivery to merge/purge service bureaus; advises internal/external parties on preferred merge instructions.
Reviews and approves merge purge reports, standard list deductions, and ensures billing is processed correctly and accurately. Conducts lapsed mailer analyses for list management clients.
Facilitates data transfers for building and maintaining cooperative database relationships for clients
Manages clients’ exchange balances and establishes exchange partnerships.
Develops promotional pricing and marketing strategies for clients’ list.
Actively promotes managed files through targeted recommendations via phone, email, and personal communications.
Researches fresh data and list opportunities; analyzes marginal list universes to improve response and/or cost per order. Participates in and/or leads plan and test recommendation discussions with agency AE and clients.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to analyze and interpret historical campaign performance and apply knowledge to future campaign strategies and planning.
Able to work with senior leadership team to develop and deliver additional client services including modeling solutions, non-mail acquisition opportunities, and advanced analytical products.
Ability to recognize major list opportunities including price negotiations to obtain price deals that improve net mailing expense and cost per order.
Able to coordinate development of predictive models to identify opportunities for expanding available list universes.
Solid written and verbal communication skills, paired with the demonstrated ability to organize your work and continuously manage competing priorities, are required in this role.
Must possess a positive attitude, be flexible, and focused, with an emphasis on a can-do, hands-on approach and philosophy.
The ability to operate independently and proactively is a must, as is the ability to operate in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
While individual competency is highly valued, a willingness to be a flexible and proactive team player is also critical.
Education & Experience
3+ years of experience in direct marketing, specifically within the list brokerage and/or management area.
Solid competency MS Office, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, etc.) and PowerPoint is required regardless of industry experience.
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
