As the Sales Manager you will be responsible for the Central & Eastern Regional account management, sales generation, building customer loyalty, and developing sales strategies and packages to meet our customers' needs. Maintain accounts in an existing territory and at the same time expand the client base with both new clients and new products. The products available for sale include advertising in our magazine; trade show sponsorships and booth sales; association sponsorships and corporate memberships; and online and website based advertising. Scope of this position will include:
Maintaining current customers in the Central & Eastern Regions, prospecting new business and building long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
Making Decisions and Solving Problems; analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Negotiating with others and resolving Service Issues; negotiate directly with vendors on pricing and service commitment deadlines. Troubleshoot and resolve service issues-complaints.
Adhering to general internal processes
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for tracking, reporting, record keeping and information gathering for a specific territory.
Takes the lead in prospecting and acquiring new customers from an assigned geography.
Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders in past, current and future customers.
Leads all aspects of the sales process. Relationship building develops packages to meet our customer’s needs and sales generation.
Sells all company products designed for industry related vendors; display ads, tradeshow sponsorship and booth sales, association sponsorship and corporate membership, and online/web based advertising.
Active contributing member of the collaboration that leads to new products and processes in the sales department.
Ability to create and adapt sales pitches and proposals based on specific needs and interests of the client.
Knowledgeable of various advertising and marketing channels as they relate to campaigns.
Frequent travel throughout assigned territory and to industry events.
Refers opportunities for growth in products and services to Director for evaluation.
Manages new customers’ implementation to ensure a smooth transition.
Enters and maintains all client data in the PPA’s Sales Database System.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty effectively. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 4 year College Degree is preferred. 5 + years of proven sales success- preferably in the area of advertising, publication, event sales and/or sponsorships.
SKILL SET: Highly organized with excellent follow-up skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong negotiating skills. Planning, organization, and problem solving skills. Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at any level of a client organization. Highly focused attention to detail. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and ability to learn and utilize in-house specific software applications. Ability to work with a sense of urgency, in a fast-paced work environment. Self-starter with integrity, enthusiasm, a positive attitude and a strong desire to succeed. Must be able to work both independently and as a team member to market the association.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds without the assistance of another person.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
