Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, the PR & Marketing Coordinator will be focused on supporting the Casualty Actuarial Society’s digital communications efforts, including social media development, execution and maintenance and expansion into video, podcasts, and emerging forms of media. This position is also responsible for supporting the development and execution of public relations strategies and activities for the CAS to assist the work of the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Supporting the development and execution of the CAS’s marketing plans for continuing education programs.
Working with the Director of Marketing and Communications, supporting the development and execution of the CAS’s marketing plans for external target audiences, specifically the industry trade press, insurance executives, employers of actuaries, and other key external demographics.
Tracking and measuring CAS marketing and communications campaigns and drafting media and communications measurement reports for review, assessing opportunities for communications industry awards and managing and writing awards applications.
Assisting with the management of CAS social media activities including both organic and paid social media campaigns and fulfilling weekly posting schedule across social networking platforms.
Assisting the Director of Marketing and Communications, preparing external outreach materials, including news releases, media alerts, fact sheets, infographics, weekly reports, and other similar materials and assisting with the development and maintenance of media lists, editorial calendars, conference lists, and other databases.
Supporting the work of the Public Relations Advisory Committee and assisting in other areas of the CAS with communications and marketing projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications or Chief Communications Officer.
Assisting with the expansion of CAS digital media into additional platforms, such as video, podcasts and other emerging forms of media.
Supporting the maintenance and development of content on the CAS website and other CAS platforms.

Required Experience and Qualifications
Fully accredited 4-year degree in English, marketing, public relations or communications.
A minimum of two years’ work experience in communications; association experience preferred. Formal internship experience will also be considered. Knowledge of insurance industry a plus.
Expertise and proven work experience in multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. Understanding of executing social campaigns. Proficiency with Hootsuite or other scheduling platforms preferred. Experience with running digital advertisements a plus.
Familiarity with the production of emerging forms of media, such as video and podcasts.
Experience in drafting website and social media content.
Strong writing (including hard news, feature style, persuasive, Web and social media), proofreading and oral communication skills. Knowledge of AP style preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with a variety of individuals including the media, members, volunteers and staff.
Ability be able to work independently as well as part of a team, with high levels of initiative and strong attention to detail.
Solid analytical and organizational skills and ability to plan, track and perform multiple tasks; must be able to manage multiple priorities and maintain high attention to detail.
Proficiency using e-mail communication, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
