Summary of the position
Leverage all marketing and communications channels to interact with internal and external constituents in order to achieve the school’s strategic goals and to continue to move Langley forward, particularly as it relates to Langley’s position and perception in the marketplace.
Essential functions, duties and responsibilities:
Consistently support and act in accordance with the school’s mission and values.
Convey the school’s mission, values and brand to all constituents.
Define the school’s strategic internal and external marketing and communication plan, and budget, particularly in relation to enrollment, internal communication and employment.
Monitor local and national trend data and best practices to understand the short-term and long-term market position and perceptions of Langley.
Monitor and refine the school’s brand strategy and facilitate the steps necessary to implement the brand.
Develop messaging and storytelling in order to attract and retain qualified students (working with the enrollment team) and attract and retain talented employees (working with HR).
Work with the Head of School and other senior leaders on crisis communications and ongoing strategic initiatives. Support initiatives with talking points and other communications.
Oversee implementation of employee and parent surveys and other feedback loops to understand constituent sentiment and identify areas for improvement and of progress.
Stay apprised of and measure constituent sentiment and engagement and adjust as needed.
Direct and oversee the communications team to ensure alignment of execution with the strategic marketing and communication plan and across all channels from print to digital to events. Work with the team to maintain an innovative channel mix, implement best practices and track metrics.
Oversee the marketing communications calendar to ensure stakeholder needs and expectations are met in a timely, coordinated manner. This requires close coordination and collaboration primarily with the Development Office, Admission Office and academic leaders.
Oversee the accuracy, effectiveness and experience of Langley’s database and online channels, along with relevant members of the team.
Identify the role of Langley’s Summer Studio program as part of the school’s overall position.
Ensure parent relations initiatives are in line with the school’s philosophy and parent programs are strategic and appeal to a diverse group of families. Member of the PALS Executive Committee.
Work closely with the Development team to support its communications needs.
Manage Director of Editing and Publications, Director of Web and Digital Engagement and the Database Manager.
Ensure the safety and well-being of students.
Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion.
Experience in and/or knowledge of independent schools required
Admission, marketing and communication experience required
Management and administrative experience required
Experience in managing financial aid process required
Strong communication, organization, planning and analytical skills required
