The School of Biological Sciences Marketing and Communications team serves under the leadership of the Dean, and supports students, faculty and staff in the advancement of the school's research and education mission. Communicating the School's brand story and demonstrating the impact and value to potential students, alumni and the community is are key drivers to the success of the team. The Marketing and Communications team works in collaboration with the school's Development team to hone the School's external messaging, develop and execute public events and activities, and promote our value proposition to the community.
The School of Biological Sciences is seeking a Digital Marketing & Communications Coordinator to work on creating and executing the School's digital marketing and content strategy plan. Additionally, they will work closely with the BioSci IT/Computing department, BioSci student assistants and faculty to develop, maintain and optimize School and faculty websites, event pages and microsites. This role will occasionally work on projects with other members of the Marketing and Communications team to provide support for events, live coverage of events for social media, and other BioSci initiatives.
Three (3) to (5) years of digital marketing and/or content experience and/or content experience with a BA/BS degree.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Strong graphic design skills and knowledge of Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator), Canvas and/or other visual editors.
Good written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills and political acumen.
Working knowledge of concepts and principles of news, media communications and media relations.
General knowledge of the usage and applications of electronic communication tools and skill in using same including WordPress and SEO best practices.
Skill to maintain confidentiality.
Experience creating compelling visual content for social media campaigns across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
Good organizational skills.
Experience with social media community management and working with social media influencers.
Knowledge of WordPress page editors such as WordPress Bakery, Beaver Builder, Elementor and/or basic familiarity with HTML/CSS.
Experience using email content management systems such as Mailchimp and Constant Contact.
Experience working in higher education, in particular R1 research university.
Experience with website analytics such as Google Analytics.
Knowledge of video editing software and other art skills.
