Reporting to the Director of Communications and Events in the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine, the Communications and Marketing Specialist will work with the director, and other members of the team, to create, plan and execute the communications and marketing strategy. The Communications and Marketing Specialist will be a key member of the Communications and Events team focused on internal and external communications and marketing to advance the school’s mission.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: •Assists the director with planning internal and external communication efforts. •Writes internal faculty/staff notices and newsletters, media advisories and press releases, and posts content to the website. •Manages media inquiries, interview requests and media pitches. •Cultivates relationships and works collaboratively with members from various School of Medicine departments, including Student Affairs, Admissions, Faculty Affairs, Development & Alumni Relations, Student Council and our strategic partners at Hofstra University and Northwell Health. •Stays up to date on school happenings and attends and writes about school events, awards and accomplishments in research, medical education and healthcare, and develop a keen sense for potential stories that exemplify the school’s mission and vision to help increase brand recognition and reputation.
This role may require weekend hours, in addition to late evenings and early mornings. Occasional travel required.
