The Department of Theater at Oberlin College invites applications for the Marketing & Engagement Coordinator position to begin immediately. This is a 12-month, full-time continuing Administrative and Professional Staff position supervised by the Managing Director of the Theater and Dance departments. The Marketing & Engagement Coordinator is a new position being integrated into our department and will serve a pivotal role as an academic and production staff member.
The Marketing & Engagement Coordinators’ primary responsibility will be the development, execution, deployment, maintenance, and reporting of all marketing and engagement activities.
Manage, promote and increase engagement with our various constituents.
Develop meaningful relationships with media outlets.
Develop press releases and secure coverage for performances and events.
Serve as lead designer/supervisor for all show logo and poster creation.
Design/facilitate/supervise the creation of ads for newspapers, magazines, and digital use.
Design/facilitate/oversee the creation of all print and digital promotional materials.
Design and assist in creating all show-specific materials, programs, dramaturgy booklets, etc.
Assist the departments in creating and sending internal, external, and promotional messages to all constituents.
Interface strategically with Admissions, Alumni, and other units on campus to strengthen the departments’ external messaging with prospective students, parents, alumni, and donors.
Act as staff liaison to Communications, complementing their efforts to strengthen the profile and increase awareness of the Humanities and the Practicing Arts on campus, in the community, and across the country.
In collaboration with the departments, create, manage, and facilitate a comprehensive social media engagement calendar and strategy.
Manage database operations for social media platforms.
Facilitate the creation and curation of digital content for YouTube and Vimeo.
Serve as subject matter expert by maintaining records of information appearing on social media platforms, researching and evaluating the usage of evolving social media technologies, and benchmarking social media usage with industry leaders.
Research peer institutions, industry trends and emerging technology.
Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience working in social media content creation, digital media/marketing, communication or social media.
Demonstrated ability to understand audience requirements and develop targeted and appropriate communication.
Detail-oriented with a track record of managing multiple projects at once and delivering on time.
Excellent communication skills
Possess superior verbal and written communications skills, especially strong writing skills for multiple audiences – press releases, show descriptions, brochure copy, e-blast communication, social media updates, etc.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive documents appropriately.
Excellent graphic design skills with some degree of proficiency in Adobe Design Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
Experience managing social media accounts.
Experience working in the fine and performing arts.
