The Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) Marketing Department carries out functions related to strategic enrollment marketing, digital strategy, and creative services. OIA Marketing works in partnership with undergraduate and graduate admissions as well as departments across campus to promote the UMBC experience and attract students.
Position Overview:
The Marketing Coordinator sits in UMBC’s Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) marketing department and supports initiatives related to enrollment marketing. The Marketing Coordinator also serves as the liaison between key campus partners, such as admissions, to facilitate ongoing marketing and design projects. This position plays a key role in furthering OIA marketing digital media planning and utility of the current marketing automation system of record (Salesforce Marketing Cloud). Responsibilities:
Specific duties include:
Work with OIA Marketing’s campus partners to facilitate the development of external communications, publications, and digital assets used to promote the UMBC experience and attract students
Work with OIA marketing leadership to develop components of campaigns and establish strategies utilizing marketing tools such as Marketing Cloud content and journey builders
Measure results of marketing campaigns, emails, and journeys and report on effectiveness, key performance indicators, and areas for improvement, implementing adjustments as needed with the guidance of senior staff
Contribute to marketing content strategy
Identify opportunities to utilize new channels in advertising and lead generation
Assist with procurement activities related to advertising/media buys including reconciliation of marketing purchases as well as correspondence with vendors and media reps
Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or a related field
Two years of experience in marketing
Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience in marketing tactics, platforms, and channels including social media, digital and email marketing
Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills
Proven ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple tasks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write compelling copy and edit/proofread
Strong analytical and presentation skills as well as attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of HTML and web development tools
Experience with CRM and marketing automation (e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud)
A strong understanding of and experience in higher education market including lead generation/nurturing, recruitment/admissions and enrollment management
