This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Moores Cancer Center and remote.

The Marketing & Communications Manager (MCM) contributes to and implements a comprehensive communications strategy across the MCC's social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.), website and digital newsletters to build the reputation and position of MCC's research and research impact by communicating to the research members of MCC, the community partners, donors, San Diegans, and pan-US research partners the opportunities for collaboration, funding, and successes of the MCC. Working closely with the Director, Executive Director, and MCC members and leaders in addition to UCSD Health Marketing and Communications colleagues, this position will plan and develop content to ensure that internal and external communication manage, maintain, and grow our social media channels, online presence, and written communications and branding.
The Marketing & Communications Manager oversees marketing, communications (internal and external relations), and branding efforts to enhance visibility and reputation of the center by highlighting the exceptional research efforts. The incumbent guides the weekly communications to researchers across UCSD, SDSU, LJI, VA, and Rady Children's Hospital informing them of research seminars, collaboration opportunities, presentations, and funding opportunities.
This position provides day-to-day management and direction of the MCC's strategic communications program, website, mass email database and email marketing, social media presence, communication needs/efforts, and creation and placement of branded materials.
The incumbent will work with UCSD Health Marketing and Communications to create, edit, update and integrate digital data for managed websites and related functions. They are responsible for regular posting of news, content and campaigns on the institution's social channels, maintaining a cross-channel content calendar, posting the right content at the right time and on the right platform to maximize engagement. This position builds and nurtures online communities, actively engages with users, and implements processes and procedures to regularly test, analyze and improve digital engagement.
The incumbent is an expert when it comes to the latest social platforms, tools and technologies. They drive social media efforts, stay on the leading-edge of trends and technologies, are creative content creators, and advocate for new approaches that advance communications objectives. The incumbent also possesses excellent writing skills to translate scientific concepts in an engaging way.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.
