Description of Department: The Office of Communications and Marketing supports the mission and goals of SUNY Oswego by building awareness (of people, place, and programs/facilities) among targeted audiences, and telling the story of SUNY Oswego through our students, faculty, staff and alumni to internal and external audiences. The office performs this communications and marketing work in its effort to enhance Oswego's reputation through its three core functions: Marketing; News/Media; and Design & Print Services. A staff of professionals serves colleagues all across campus in an integrated approach to deliver targeted marketing strategies and communication tactics, generate positive publicity in traditional and new media, develop website, digital and e-communication products, and/or produce engaging print communication. SUNY Oswego's Office of Communications and Marketing has been recognized for its work, receiving awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Educational Digital Marketing.

Description of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), the Director of Marketing is a key member of the Office Communications and Marketing leadership team working collaboratively with the CCO, fellow directors and key campus stakeholders. The Director of Marketing will play an important role in the development of high quality and data-driven brand marketing campaigns including creation and implementation of enrollment marketing and integrated communications strategies, campaigns, programs, plans, content strategy, and reporting that raise the profile of SUNY Oswego.
The Director of Marketing will:
Direct university marketing team. Oversee all digital marketing, website, social media, creative design, initiatives in keeping with brand objectives. Collaborate closely with CCO and MarCom directors on video, photography assets and graphic design needs.
Build, plan and implement overall digital marketing strategies including paid search marketing campaigns (e.g., Google Adwords) and manage/oversee university marketing budget.
Play a vital role in the university's undergraduate and graduate programs current and future enrollment marketing success. The Director of Marketing will directly aid and support SUNY Oswego's enrollment marketing efforts and work closely with the CCO and Vice President for Enrollment Management (VPEM) on marketing strategies and implementation to recruit new students (undergraduate and graduate) to the university.
Establish and measure ROI and KPIs. Work with MarCom, CTS and Digital Services to leverage analytics tools to evaluate effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns across all channels.
Work with CCO to drive brand and lead generation campaigns to meet defined marketing KPIs, identify new opportunities, and support revenue-generating (e.g., enrollment) and brand development efforts.
Develop and manage SEO strategy by improving and measuring online content to ensure SMC programs rank on Search Engine Marketing (SEM); Track SEO and Google Analytics data to make strategic recommendations. Execute and improve current SEO tactics, including keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building.
Create and manage a marketing content calendar and deadlines requiring collaboration with multiple team members and offices.
Partner with enrollment leads on the use and implementation of customer relationship management (CRM) SLATE for inbound and outbound marketing campaigns and develop a SLATE communications plan for strategic enrollment messaging.
Write compelling marketing content that converts prospective targeted audiences.
Utilize the latest marketing trends, technologies, and marketing platforms to support go-to-market efforts; Stay up to date with digital technology developments and best practices in higher education sector and in other industries.
Coach Marketing team members to maximize creativity, productivity, and effectiveness. Ensure projects are completed by identified deadlines and on budget.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, or marketing-related field.
Minimum 5 years marketing/communications experience within higher education industry or related industry.
Experience managing staff with establishing performance goals and reviews.
Highly collaborative style with experience developing and implementing marketing/communications strategies successfully.
Demonstrated experience managing and executing across multiple marketing and communication channels and media; highly developed skills in marketing/communications writing and editing.
Evidence of high energy leadership style with a track record for leading both strategic and tactical marketing/communications efforts.
Experience utilizing various communication/marketing tools and platforms to perform responsibilities (e.g., project management tool such as Asana, content management system such as Drupal, and CRM tool such as SLATE).
Ability to produce high quality deliverables with meticulous attention to detail. Must be metrics-driven and results-oriented with demonstrated analytical skills.
Ability to provide quick turnaround and updates for multiple requests while maintaining a strong reputation of high-quality work and being able to adjust to changing demands and shifting priorities.
Experience working in marketing/communications role(s) that support recruitment, enrollment management, and/or admissions activities.
Advanced interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a diverse, wide- ranging audience, including current/prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni and outside agencies.
