Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures, the newest division of the American Library Association, seeks a Membership and Marketing Manager who excels at communicating, and is passionate about helping members increase their personal growth, and wants to proactively make things better. You will get the opportunity to help shape the division, while also taking a lead role in our evolution to a more active, engaging, and welcoming organization.
You will be in charge of:
Developing, running, and reporting on our annual membership recruitment, retention, engagement, and marketing plans;
Analyzing member pathways to involvement/leadership, increasing visibility of opportunities, and facilitating increased engagement around them, especially for virtual and micro-opportunities;
Designing, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on the marketing and promotion of Core products, services, and events;
Giving Core an authentic and cohesive voice for the promotion of member benefits, our strategic goals, programs, services, and activities;
Mixing automated email campaigns, online community engagement, and other types of outreach to meet member needs and make Core more welcoming;
Creating and developing Core’s news releases, promotional copy for our various web properties, news from the Core office posted on social media and our blog, and other digital marketing content;
Developing strategy for segmenting members by persona and profile interests to create customized landing pages and pathways to engagement.

This is a regular full-time position based in our Chicago office. Most ALA staff are currently working remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic. We have plans to resume in-person work at ALA offices when it is safe to do so. Please note that although we have a generous telecommuting policy for our employees, we do not have any truly remote positions in states outside of our workplace sites.
ALA currently requires that employees be fully vaccinated as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Proof of vaccination will be required on or before start date.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and/or equivalent prior job experience, or continuing education.
5+ years demonstrated, progressive experience writing and managing promotional and marketing materials;
3+ years’ experience in a library, association, or related organization that can provide insight into member needs and how to meet them;
Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects while still meeting deadlines;
An understanding of how to implement email blasts in marketing software (currently Informz), particularly automated campaigns and tracking conversions using Google Analytics and other tools;
Excellent promotional writing and management skills for print and online content (including for Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and blogs);
Familiarity with Association Management software (currently iMIS);
Familiarity with online services such as the Google suite of products (Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms), Zoom, WordPress, Slack, and Canva;
The ability to travel 2-3 times each year for conference-related
