Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School, seeks an energetic, thoughtful, dedicated, and detail-minded Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing to assist in executing a strategic digital communications and marketing plan to advance the institution’s mission and vision. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing.
The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing must be a strong writer and have a passion for storytelling, a strong working knowledge of current digital-communications best practices, a meticulous attention to detail, an open and collaborative spirit, and a commitment to education.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and promote key messages and branding that align with institutional
Manage all digital media and print publications, including the annual Views magazine,
Manage and deploy all weekly communications and strategic communications as directed.
Serve as web content producer and
Serve as the School’s photographer.
Manage and execute a social media
Execute an inbound-marketing strategy to assist Admissions in recruiting prospective families to the
Operate the School’s CMS and other
Create digital graphics for web and social
Serve as copyeditor on school messages and
Understand and track digital analytics for the
Shoot video as needed.
FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Skilled storyteller with experience creating compelling, engaging, and ROI-driven digital content.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, basic HTML, social media tools, video editing, and web publishing.
Strong photography skills.
Experience with Blackbaud
Experience executing online and print advertising campaigns.
Ability to work independently; a self-starter with a high level of integrity and the ability to exercise confidentiality and
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to many constituencies including parents, donors, volunteers, and colleagues.
Professionalism, maturity, flexibility, good judgment, and humor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in marketing and communications, superior digital marketing skills, and a strong grasp of communications-industry best
A commitment to mission-driven
Experience in independent schools
Experience managing vendor and consultant relationships.
Bachelor’s degree
Ability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Passing periodic background checks, FBI background check and, at the discretion of the school, drug, and alcohol
Excellent interpersonal and communication
Strong writing and editing skills; ability to write and format professional correspondence, memos, support documentation, press releases, and articles.
Mature judgment and discretion; ability to maintain confidentiality and composure under pressure.
Consistent and prompt
Compliance with the provisions of the Beauvoir Faculty & Staff Handbook.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, and stooping in the performance of daily
The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer
The position requires near and far vision for reading and preparing written reports and other documents.
Acute hearing is also required when providing phone
The need to lift, drag, push, and pull files, reports, and other materials weighing up to 25 pounds is required.
