Position Summary:
The senior marketing manager is simultaneously an innovator and collaborator — serving as creative resource for SIR’s immediate needs, but always looking forward to how a brand can grow and thrive. This role fosters a positive and professional relationship with internal teams and external stakeholders while guiding their expectations toward increasingly effective marketing programs. The role includes creating marketing plans in support of SIR products and services including the society’s annual meeting, managing marketing staff, being adept in managing multiple projects across all channels, applying knowledge of and digital content strategy, marketing strategy and execution, writing and design, and the ability to track and measure the success of marketing tactics.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop marketing strategies centered on identifying value for end users for a variety of products and services.
Oversee all marketing strategies and tactics for SIR’s Annual Scientific Meeting, including digital and print marketing initiatives, SIR booth design and strategy, on-site activities and promotions and a coordinated web presence.
Create marketing plans to support strategy that include measurable outcomes, identifying messaging and channels, aligning resources, and monitoring performance throughout implementation.
Maintain existing brand by ensuring all marketing activities align with brand, messaging, and graphics standards.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of two direct reports including creating goals and professional development opportunities.
Create, maintain, and conduct analytics reporting across multiple platforms and extract key insights for future campaign development and marketing strategies.
Identify effectiveness of current marketing practices by developing testing scenarios, tracking and analyzing performance, and optimizing accordingly.
Develop and manage the marketing budget.
Identify marketing automation tools and platforms to increase efficiency and effectiveness of campaigns.
Manage external partners and agencies involved in executing short- and long-term campaigns.
Conduct market research, or partner with vendors to do, and stay current on industry trends to inform marketing strategies and campaigns.
Secondary responsibilities
Collaborates with communications/PR and publishing team members to ensure their marketing needs are met.
Oversees the operation of SIR’s online job board by outside vendor, managing vendor customer service and outside sales team activities to continually improve member experience and increase sales revenue.
Qualifications
A minimum of five years of integrated marketing and communications experience fulfilling strategies and tactics in a matrixed work environment; experience in an association environment a plus.
People management experience including recruiting, training, and managing direct reports.
Direct experience in current digital marketing and email automation best practices; skilled in developing attractive, compelling promotions using e-mail marketing software platforms (Informz or similar); proficiency with association management list development processes for the purposes of targeted promotions; and comfort using content management systems.
Understand the role of informational graphics, visuals and video as part of the marketing mix—the ability to create attractive infographics and visuals using Canva (or similar) is a plus.
Ability to successfully collaborate with other staff in strategic communications, public relations, social media, and external graphic design and marketing resources.
Strong collaborative approach and demonstrated ability managing multiple priorities while maintaining relationships with internal and volunteer team members.
Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Genuine interest and understanding of the importance of branding and a commitment to ensure all promotions are aligned with the organization’s brand, messaging and style.
Skills
Ability to combine targeted blast, print, social media and video strategies to reach defined audiences with strong messages and calls to action.
Proven project management skills, resourcefulness, and proficiency managing multiple inputs and communicating expectations effectively to internal stakeholders and teams.
Experience managing and interpreting marketing performance metrics and tracking tools, some proficiency with Google Analytics and SEO a plus.
Working knowledge of and/or direct experience with other associated marketing functions such social media, paid and organic search, marketing communications, graphics, and production
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with Falcon, Hootsuite, Feathr or other automated marketing platforms
Education:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or related field from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Use of phones and computers for extended periods. Utilize equipment and communication technologies for conference calls and teleconference meetings/webinars. Requires mobility to move and travel away from the remote setting. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Frequent interaction with internal staff and physician members via phone, in person, email, and other mediums.
