This role is primarily remote but in office attendance (2 times a month) is required. To that end, applicants must live local to Denver Metropolitan area.
The Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) is the largest national organization of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers working to improve the lives of patients affected by obesity. OMA members are the clinical experts in obesity medicine. They use a comprehensive, scientific, and individualized approach when treating obesity, which helps patients achieve their health and weight goals. The OMA offers resources, education, and community to physicians and other health care providers in the field of obesity medicine.
Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of this role is to sell membership, corporate partnerships and sponsorships, exhibits, and advertising sales for the Obesity Medicine Association (OMA). The role also requires that the individual curate account management, drive new client acquisition as well as existing client retention efforts, and resales with both small to large commercial businesses. Specific duties include selling of outlined inventory and management of various sales related projects, with a large focus on the OMA’s conferences, and the entire suite of OMA’s education and membership products. This position requires a strong business to business (B2B) sales background. The candidate must be detail oriented, creative, agile, and respond quickly to a variety of tasks. The candidate must be self-propelled and work well autonomously as well as in a team, with a thorough understanding of how sales development for educational conferences functions in addition to robust cold calling and account maintenance experience.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Sales:
Develops and maintains expert knowledge of current products/service portfolios as well as changes and developments within the healthcare industry.
Responsible for selling all levels of membership, corporate partnerships, exhibit space, sponsorship and advertisement and other products in portfolio to businesses and individuals.
Specific activities include lead generations, account management, customer retention, pricing, customer segmentation, customer presentations, cold and retention/repeat sales calls, account sign-up and activation, and working with other departments on fulfillment, and contract management.
Answers inbound customer calls regarding product and service information and identifies new and upselling opportunities from such interactions.
Identify potential sales prospects, develop and track lead pipeline through telephone, database, and previous sales data searches, social media, websites, marketing activities, and referrals through various marketing programs and cold calling activities.
Build relationships with industry-related partners.
Develop and maintain a sales database to track and trend all sales functions.
Meet both the minimum monthly and annual/quarterly revenue goals and objectives as established by the OMA Senior Leadership Team.
Manages a portfolio of existing clients for the organization and encourages repeat sales.
Calls, emails or connects on social media with prospects to identify appropriate contacts and qualifies and drives leads through the sales pipeline.
Report weekly on closed sales, prospects in pipeline by product line, and contacts made in each stage of the sales cycle; maintains accurate tracking reports.
Conduct regular client feedback surveys in collaboration with the marketing department to identify potential markets and new products for product and sales opportunities.
Business Development:
Maintains existing/prospective client records.
Keeps the OMA Senior Leadership team informed of all activity, including timely preparation of reports.
Works closely with the marketing team to expand lead generation and grow revenue.
Use forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the profitability of all sales and business development offerings in alignment current and future market trends.
Conduct client surveys in collaboration with marketing to identify potential markets for products and services.
Actively collaborates with the OMA Senior Leadership Team to create dynamic plans and goals.
Attend business networking events and conferences throughout the year to accumulate new leads and referrals, as applicable.
Lead the strategy endeavors to support exhibiting and/or partnership opportunities with external organizations including updates to written and web-based collateral on various sales offerings.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, business or communication or equivalent work experience.
Previous sales experience in an association or event-based organization is preferred.
Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Thorough understanding of various sales strategies.
Excellent PC skills to include CRM database management.
Strong closer in negotiating business development projects and while promoting the OMA’s conferences, products, and services.
Minimum 5+ years of relevant sales and account management experience required.
Advanced ability to be an effective problem solver and act quickly to resolve issues to encourage sales and handle both customer satisfaction as well as dissatisfaction.
Outstanding interpersonal, organizational and sales skills.
Past experience increasing revenue and meeting sales quotas.
Ability to multi-task and manage one’s time engaging in sales activities (prospecting, researching, documentation, inbound follow up, email campaigns, etc.)
Ability to travel for work is required, as well as occasional work involving evenings and/or weekends. Travel requirement approximately 1-2 times per quarter.
Physical Requirements: Average of 40 hours per week during regular business hours. Occasional after-hours committee meetings or sales calls may be required. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required
