Responsible for assisting the Retail Director of Marketing with planning, support, and managing the development and implementation of national retail marketing strategies and services for the portfolio of shopping centres. Through portfolio management, innovation pipeline, national campaign development, loyalty program enhancement, and customer experience solutions, the National Marketing Manager will be a key player in Canada's Asset Services team. They will represent National Marketing as a liaison to various cross-functional teams such as Leasing, Specialty Leasing, Business Operations, Asset Management, owners and clients, and onsite marketing teams. A highly analytical and creative thinker coupled with a strong digital mindset, the National Marketing Manager will manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, be a proactive and collaborative team-player with a passion for retail, shopping centres, keeping up to date with trends and competitors in the commercial real estate market.
Engage with all departments to source innovative success stories, program launches, key wins, new deals and openings, and/or other content as directed for C&W's LinkedIn
Support teams with internal communication development for new hires, quarterly reviews, internal updates
Assist Retail Marketing Director with PR management, media relations and crisis communications
Drive PR coverage through strategic media management; identify and develop process to track leasing, special leasing, development and redevelopment milestones and news
Maintain updated PR files for shopping centres including media contacts, centre images, site information
Collaborate with national team to strategize and implement marketing collateral for leasing, development and redevelopment projects; and other communication needs as required alongside agency partners
Assist with national influencer program updates and implementation across all properties
Asset Transitions, New Business Support
Assist national marketing team in transitioning assets in and out of the portfolio including: the gift card program and other marketing aspects as required
Be a point of contact for external partners and vendors to communicate directions, identify needs, source quotes and cost management
Participate in new business pitch proposal development by gathering metrics, program results, compiling information, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the creation of engaging decks and presentations
Support Retail Marketing Director with pitch meetings, client needs, and national marketing results and documentation as needed
Oversee national gift card program by working collaboratively with vendor partners, EML & Gift Wise to ensure YoY increase and program innovation
Work with site teams to create and execute yearly gift card program strategies, set KPIs and ensure they are tracking individual campaign results, analyzing trends, driving sales based on budget and needs
Oversee content changes for national gift card toolkit by sourcing new trends, tactics, Gift Wise kiosks and digital gift card program execution
Provide monthly gift card sales reports; distribute national results to marketing teams and stakeholders
Develop customer information gathering strategy, including but not limited to, building information database for elevated email marketing, site-specific loyalty programs, and exploring product integrations.
Support Retail Marketing Director with guest services strategy and evolution
Collaborate with Leasing/Specialty Leasing to enhance customer experience through partnerships, visual merchandising, experiential retail, new retailers, and brand partners for multi-property opportunities
Reporting and KPI Tracking
Preparation/creation of bi-monthly reports for portfolio's top performing assets, owners and internal CW teams that includes all measurable KPI's including digital metrics and onsite activation information
Provide monthly gift card sales reports; ensure all sales data is accurate & distribute to marketing teams
Monitor sales and category performance/centre monthly; share insights/sales ideas with marketing managers
Update Retail Marketing Director on trends, performance and program adoption of national campaigns
Campaign Development & Brand Consistency
Collaborate with Retail Director on national sales campaign ideation and execution alongside agency partners and guide portfolio of centres with implementing
Contribute to national content toolkit strategy, development, execution with agency partner and Digital Manager to ensure new ideas, campaign performance, and trending tactics and programs are incorporated
Bi-Annual review of properties marketing/advertising executions to ensure shopping centres are "on brand"
Marketing Plans/Budgets & Support
Assist Retail Director with Annual Marketing Plan & Budget Template updates to support the centres development of annual marketing plans, research reports, budget plan
Organize/ participate in annual marketing plan/budget reviews with marketing managers & ownership groups
Provide input to marketing teams to optimize budgets and achieve property goals
Assist with property specific marketing needs in the absence of marketing managers as required
Prepare executive research reports as needed using the Environics Analytics (EA) tool
Attend regular training to maintain knowledge of EA research capabilities
Provide support to Digital Manager re: optimization of digital tools including evaluations of digital platforms and products to improve efficiency, add value, and/or provide solutions for complex marketing needs
Manage the daily responsibilities of the seasonal marketing intern to achieve department goals and objectives
Assist interns with goal setting, guidance and performance evaluation
Explore further education opportunities and/or internal skills building courses for leadership skill development
Participate in C & W's mentorship program
5+ years' experience in shopping centre marketing management, retail marketing and/or event planning required
Degree/Diploma in Marketing & Communications or related focus is preferred
Strong Analytical skills: ability to gather and analyze data and deliver KPI tracking reports
Experience working with cross-functional teams, liaising with Executive and C-Suite leaders and stakeholders
Skilled in content creation strategies and processes, copywriting, with a keen eye for detail and editing for digital and social channels
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management
Understanding of technology and digital platforms, content management systems, and social media
Graphics and design capabilities on Adobe CC, Canva
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced working environment
Proven record of providing excellent internal and external communication skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs
