General Description:The Director of Communications & Enrollment Marketing guides the Collegeâ™s integrated communication and enrollment marketing strategy to advance the goals and reputation of Northern Virginia Community College.Duties and Tasks:Provide communications and enrollment marketing vision, strategic direction in alignment with NOVAâ™s strategic plan, team leadership and resource management to define and enhance the Collegeâ™s overall communication,Brand position, raise awareness of its distinctive attributes, and effectively engage key constituent groups including prospective and current students, parents, alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and other key internal and external constituents.Provide consultation to senior academic leaders to identify communication and enrollment marketing priorities and achieve priority goals.Create, maintain, and lead effective structures and mechanisms for cross-college marketing integration and optimization is critical, including managing councils and committees comprised of staff, faculty, executives, and volunteers.Create and maintain a highly productive and collaborative relationship with peers in positions of enrollment management, governmental affairs, the presidentâ™s office, and other externally focused functions is essential.Lead a team of over 20 professionalsSupervises a diverse team that includes internal communications, external communications, student communications, enrollment marketing, web services and the creative services teams.
KSAs:Must possess excellent judgment; be able to think creatively and strategically; function as a consensus-builder; and serve as an institutional diplomat fostering a spirit of teamwork among diverse offices throughout the College.Possess strong and assertive leadership, analytical, creative messaging, and problem-solving skillsPossess a strong work ethic and an energetic and influential work style that enjoys finding creative solutions to complex challenges.Ability to elevate the strategic value and cross-college role of marketingAbility to collaborate closely with individual campus leaders and partnersAbility to manage budget, personnel and vendor relationshipsAbility to identify marketing and promotional opportunities to position NOVA for greater media visibilityAbility to develop innovative ways to make the NOVAâ™s website a key marketing tool for conveying NOVAâ™s vision and its importance to constituents.Ability to ensure compelling, relevant, and timely content that features NOVA faculty, student, and alumni accomplishments.Strong knowledge of the college recruitment processAbility to manage multiple major projectsDeep working knowledge of institutional branding, publications, and web communications and development.Demonstrated knowledge of current marketing and communications trends, including new media channels and an understanding of todayâ™s prospective student and understands multiple communications functions and the appropriate messaging platformsRequired Qualifications:Significant experience developing and executing institution-wide communications programs.Significant marketing or related experience helping drive consumer action.Significant experience leading others.Significant writing experience and ability to effectively communicate.
