Reports to:Director of Development
Position Summary:Located on the central campus of the University of Michigan, the William L. Clements Library houses original resources for the study of American history and culture from the fifteenth to the early twentieth century. The Marketing Coordinator manages the Clements digital presence; develops and implements marketing and communication strategies; and provides organizational support for the Clements Library events. Reports to the Director of Development and works in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Development. This posting is for one full-time position with an annual salary of $40k - $43k.
Location: Hybrid within commuting distance to Ann Arbor
Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:
WEBPAGE MANAGEMENT (20%)
Draft, update and maintain the website for the Clements Library including open hours, event and exhibit listings, fellowship updates, blog post entries, and Adopt a Piece of History pages
Collaborate on, coordinate, edit, design, and layout pages such as subject guides and special projects such as the Clements Marketplace
Liaison with vendor to trouble shoot problems and create new templates/content
Social Media (30%)
Create and maintain calendar of social media postings and collaborate with staff to prepare appropriate content (text and images or video) for the Clements on-line presence
Oversee Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn sites -- updating banners, monitoring comments, looking for trends such as hashtags, considering audience and growth.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING (20%)
Design and produce marketing materials including print pieces such as banners, invitations, postcards, flyers, posters, bookmarks, brochures, inserts, etc. as well as digital pieces like videos
Write press releases - gather information, write, edit, find images, liaison with Michigan News, post to blog, answer press inquiries
Write and layout the monthly Clements Connections e-newsletter
Plan and create assets for communication to the public such as event email reminders, event follow-up emails, special email announcements and invitations, as well as advertising such as University Record Ads, Michigan Radio spots and, Social Media Ads
Work closely with the Editor of the bi-annual Quarto magazine completing the layout of the print and online version. Coordinate production.
Track data and analyze return of various marketing activities to evaluate their effectiveness and provide recommendations for updates or additions to Clements portfolio.
EVENTS AND OUTREACH: (15%)
Staff several events per month such as on campus lectures, brown bag talks, regional donor events, pop-up exhibits, and special events as well as virtual events such as the Clements Bookworm
Organize and lead introductory and educational tours for special visitors and groups
Participate in meetings of the volunteer Development and Communications Committee
Utilize the MiVideo platform for distribution of lecture and event videos
OTHER (15%)
Oversee volunteers and work study student projects and activities as appropriate
Participate in Clements and campus meetings
Other duties as needed
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree
Prior work experience in marketing and/or communications
Experience in web content creation/management using WordPress
Experience with e-newsletter creation and management, using tools such as Constant Contact or Mail Chimp
Fluency with Office suite
Design and layout skills
Demonstrated storytelling and writing skills
