Northeastern's Marketing department, part of the University's Office of External Affairs, seeks a highly collaborative, and blue-sky thinking, Art Director to join our team. Our Art Director will work with a cross-functional team to evolve the brand and conceptualize how we visually communicate across audiences and channels. The creative work of the Art Director spans across print, digital and experiential platforms to support University initiatives.
The position is based on the Boston campus with the option of one remote day per week.

Has ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-disciplinary team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Formally trained visual designer
5+ years' experience in multiple areas of design, branding or editorial in which proficiency in typography, color theory, and layout are demonstrated
Proficiency in tools of the trade: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Figma, and PPT
Quick study for new design tools and prototyping tools
Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate rationale for concepts and design choices
A comprehensive portfolio that demonstrates intuitive and compelling designs
Self-starter with a track record of delivering quality work under deadlines
Extraordinary attention to details and craftsmanship
Natural collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills
Bachelor's degree
Experience in higher education is not needed, nor it is desired
Nice to haves:
Print process expertise
Photo editing/ retouching/ color correction
Compositing
Email design & accessibility expertise
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Create multiple concepts and ideas required in early phases for most projects:
Digital, environmental, and print design split is equal.
Present designs and creative solutions to team members and team leads, gathers feedback, and iterates.
Prepare assets and work with the team to implement creative work on multiple platforms.
2) Owns full brand design cycle from concept through execution:
On an ongoing basis, create, document and socialize brand standard evolution, templates, tools and guidelines to the organization, outside design resources, and vendors.
Directs and mentors members of design team towards a shared vision.
Provide visual brand design direction to outside agencies and vendors.
3) Provide stylistic direction for photography and videography as needed
