Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Content Marketing Specialist/Writer. This role is responsible for creating compelling written content, capturing engaging visual media, and developing strategic social media posts to authentically promote school/student life. Additionally, this role involves ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all communications materials through meticulous proofreading and editing, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the school's communications efforts.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Write two-three web-friendly feature stories each week for polyprep.org;
Draft initial communications or refine messaging for important communitywide emails;
Assemble and proofread the weekly school newsletter; coordinate production for the performing arts and Commencement programs;
Capture still photography and short video of student/school activities; add photos into our digital asset management platform;
Write copy, create assets, and post content on @polyprep social media platforms
Establish strong connections within the school community to proactively identify and stay informed about noteworthy activities and events, ensuring timely and relevant coverage in feature stories, photographs, and social media posts;
Mentor and collaborate with student writers to cultivate their storytelling skills and encourage the development of content for our communications platforms that authentically represents the student perspective, thereby fostering an inclusive and diverse student voice;
Champion correct usage of graphic and editorial standards and brand guidelines; protect and promote the school brand and identity by ensuring all communications content maintains a high level of quality, is accurate, and features a consistent tone and style;
Assist coordination with third party partners/agencies for production of marketing/media assets; assist with any Engagement & Communications dept projects as needed.
Salary Range: $60K - $80K

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, English or commensurate professional experience
Experience: Minimum four years of experience in roles with these skills
Specific Skills:
Strong Writing and Editorial Skills: A proven track record in writing, particularly feature stories and web-friendly content. Experience in journalism, marketing, content creation, or a related field is valuable.
Visual Content Creation: Proficiency in photography and videography, as well as experience with photo and video editing software or platforms (e.g. Canva), is essential for capturing and producing engaging visual media.
Social Media Management: Experience in managing social media platforms, creating social media content, and understanding social media strategies is crucial.
Proofreading and Editing: Strong attention to detail and expertise in proofreading and editing is required to ensure communications materials are accurate, error-free, and consistent.
Community Engagement: Connect with the school community, stay informed about school activities, and proactively identify noteworthy events is important for generating relevant content.
Mentoring and Collaboration: Experience in mentoring, particularly in the context of student writers, is a valuable asset. Ability to guide and collaborate with students effectively.
Brand and Identity Management: Familiarity with graphic and editorial standards, as well as the ability to protect and promote the school's brand and identity, is essential for maintaining the school's image and message consistency.
Inclusivity and Diversity Awareness: A commitment to inclusivity and diversity in content creation and a demonstrated understanding of how to represent diverse voices authentically is important.
Organizational Skills: Must be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Special Requirements: Ability to cover key school events that sometimes happen before or after school hours or on the weekend; ability to cover events on both our Park Slope and Dyker Heights campuses.
