*Build, with a mix of photo database research and original commissions, the visual components of long-form feature stories. *Select and/or commission imagery of short-form informational content. *Craft graphics for social channels, as well as branded newsletters, brochures, presentations, and brand collateral. *Create photo galleries and infographics, write text for photo captions and graphic captions. *Collaborate with the leadership team to identify photos and graphics for license; participate in negotiations with vendors, curate photo database. *Ensure the integrity of all photo databases, records, metadata, and files. *Take part in editorial planning. A constant stream of fresh ideas and perspectives are vital to success. *Embrace analytics as a vital tool to understand and benchmark content consumption and user behavior, and work with senior staff to evolve his/her work per that feedback. *Provide graphic design support as needed.
Required Skill/ability 1: Graphic design experience in higher education, creative agency, broadcast journalism, health, or related field with advanced knowledge and facility with graphic design software including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Canva.
Required Skill/ability 2: A creative outlook on communicating complex information with the ability to make a complicated but not inherently visual story visually appealing for general audiences.
Required Skill/ability 3: Ability to write in easily understandable language for a general audience. Ability to proofread writing for materials.
Required Skill/ability 4: Experience in social media content development and management.
Required Skill/ability 5: Conversant in graphic design, marketing, and digital trends and advances in graphic technologies.
