Destination Marketing Coordinator Promote the City of Plymouth to visitors to maintain and stimulate the community’s economic vitality. The coordinator will serve as the official representative for the city’s destination marketing organization (DMO) under the direction of the recreation manager.
First round interviews are tentatively scheduled for November 28, 2023 for selected candidates.
Bachelor’s degree in business, tourism, marketing, organizational leadership or related field of study. May substitute equivalent experience.
Prior event planning, hospitality/tourism destination marketing or economic development experience.
Demonstrated community leadership experience that shows ability to create new partnerships and carry out impact.
Demonstrated ability to perform in accordance with the City of Plymouth’s CIVIC values (customer focus, integrity, visionary, inclusion and connection) and comfort with supporting and advancing the city council’s strategic priorities.
Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other city departments, city officials, the media and the general public.
Strong understanding of traditional, digital, and social media use, public relations, trade relations and international outreach.
Ability to communicate effectively orally, graphically and in writing. Utilize personal computer for word processing, spread sheet and multi-media presentations.
Nationally recognized for its quality of life, Plymouth is located just 12 miles northwest of Minneapolis. It offers extensive trails and parks, picturesque open spaces, diverse recreation programs, highly regarded school districts and easy access to downtown Minneapolis.
Plymouth residents also enjoy beautiful natural amenities, including more than a half a dozen sizable water bodies. Medicine Lake, the second largest lake in Hennepin County, is located in Plymouth. While Plymouth’s growth is slowing, the community continues to see population increases. The most recent estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau puts Plymouth's population at 81,026 as of April 1, 2020, making Plymouth the state's seventh largest city.
