Under the direction of the Tourism Manager, the Senior Sports Marketing Representative is responsible for obtaining, retaining, and developing sports tournaments and other group business. These efforts shall enhance Wicomico County’s quality of life and its economy and shall be driven by creative marketing and scales tactics.
Duties:
Meets established sales goals and quotas for leads, new business, and booked business. Researches and maintains a database of all state, regional, national sports tournament organizers and other industry professionals. Establishes relationships to obtain, retain, and develop sports tournaments in Wicomico County. Develops “Homegrown” sports tournaments including teams, budgeting, marketing, facilities, sponsorships, staffing, equipment, scheduling, and logistics. Utilizes best practices to obtain and develop new events such as tours and attending trade shows. Assists the division in meeting its budget goals. Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates part-time personnel. Processes accounts payables and receivables, prepares related reports, and evaluates events under their direction.
Special Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Marketing (preferred) or a related field. 1 to 3 years of experience in organized sports administration. Experience in sports marketing and event planning logistics including knowledge of sports rules, scheduling, and tournament bracketing, facility logistics, budgeting and related costs, and special event programming. Proven leadership, communication, supervisory, and motivational skills to direct part-time employees, volunteers, and local organizations.
