Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Enrollment, the Director of Marketing and Communications serves as the primary creative force behind all internal and external communications, shaping and interpreting institutional identity and brand. This role is responsible for developing and executing a cohesive marketing and communications strategy to enhance the school’s reputation, meet enrollment goals, and engage diverse audiences, including prospective families, alumni, and other key stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Communication
Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies to support institutional goals.
Guide and interpret institutional identity to ensure consistent branding, messaging, and visual identity.
Identify and leverage public relations opportunities to enhance the school’s reputation through consistent press placements, short-term results, broad brand awareness, and compelling special interest stories.
Oversee crisis communications, ensuring timely and effective messaging during emergencies.
Brand Management and Messaging
Ensure consistency and excellence in Gould’s visual identity and messaging across all platforms.
Oversee the creation and deployment of general print collateral, including email newsletters, social media, video content, school signage, and more.
Coordinate the production of publications such as the GA’Zette magazine and annual giving reports.
Digital and Social Media Strategy
Develop and implement a communications and social media strategy to engage current, former, and prospective families, alumni, and grandparents.
Oversee website updates, ensuring content is current, visually engaging, and aligned with branding.
Monitor trends in digital and social media to optimize engagement and strategy.
Maintain consistency across social media platforms, focusing on Instagram and Facebook, while coordinating content across Gould's pages. Develop and implement strategies for LinkedIn and YouTube.
Data and Analytics
Establish tracking mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communications initiatives.
Analyze data to inform strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
Maintain accurate and organized communications databases.
Team Management and Collaboration
Manage and mentor the Marketing and Communications team, fostering growth and skill development.
Supervise external consultants and vendors as needed to support strategic goals.
Collaborate across departments to ensure alignment of messaging and institutional priorities.
Additional Responsibilities
Manage the department budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
Stay informed on emerging trends/ competitor research and best practices in marketing and communications.
Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information.

Qualification Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or business related field.
At least five years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or brand management; direct educational experience a plus.
