We're looking for a dynamic marketing and communications professional to lead compelling, data-informed campaigns that reach prospective and admitted students. Join the University of Iowa Office of Admission as our next Assistant Director of Admissions Communications & Marketing!
The Assistant Director, Admissions Communications & Marketing will help to create, manage, and implement a robust, flexible, communications and marketing plan geared primarily at prospective and admitted students. They will also have the opportunity to:
Create content for email, print, web, and digital marketing materials to prospective and admitted students.
Supervises professional staff and student staff in the unit, including providing direction and delegation of work, performance reviews and professional development coaching.
Manage and execute email communications, strategy, and scheduling within our custom CRM and bulk email tool.
Assist the Director of Communications & Marketing with marketing communication directed to prospects, inquiries, applicants, and admitted students. Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive communication plan for these audiences.
Using the department's CRM, send targeted email messages to designed populations within the prospect, inquiry, and admitted student pools.

About the Department: The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is dedicated to assisting and supporting prospective, new and current undergraduate students through services such as information sharing, campus visits, admission application and liaising with academic areas, financial aid, student life and advisors.We welcome working with future students, admitted students, parents, families and counselors alike.We believe the University of Iowa will prepare you, challenge you, and change you and you will change the world.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Considerable experience (typically 3-5 years) working in communications, marketing, or related field.
Competencies Required:
Demonstrates an extensive proficiency level in the following competencies:
Written/oral communications skills.
Working with and leading creative teams.
Working with customer (or student) relationship management (CRM) systems.
Developing website content and using web content management systems (CMS).
Writing copy for email and direct mail marketing campaigns.
Working with data, building, and segmenting populations for marketing campaigns.
Working with targeted campaigns using bulk email systems.
Supervising staff, including performance evaluations and professional development.
Desirable Qualifications:
Master's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field.
Experience with admissions processes or student recruitment.
Basic familiarity with relational database concepts.
Experience with media creation, video, graphics, design.
Experience with digital advertising, tracking and analytics.
Experience managing social media content within larger marketing campaigns.
